Christmas 2012
Dr. Salloum and the entire Brentwood Village Dental Clinic staff were incredibly honored to sponsor a family during the Christmas season of 2012 through the Children’s Hospital Cardiology Clinic. What this means is that Dr. Salloum, all seven of the associate dentists at that time, along with the entire staff, and even some of the businesses that provide us with support services made fiscal donations and pitched in! Once we collected all donations and received a wish list from our sponsored family, staff members took to the shopping centers, doing their best imitations of Santa’s helpers! We are proud to report that we were able to fulfill every wish on their Christmas lists and then some.
This lovely family of six from Lethbridge, almost celebrated Christmas at the Children’s Hospital that year. The youngest of their three boys, who was 3 ½ years old when we sponsored this family, was born with a complex congenital heart defect. This brave boy received a heart transplant at age 15 months after experiencing heart failure. Unfortunately, this was not an instant cure and he has encountered many unforeseen complications resulting in multiple lengthy hospitalizations; he has been a resident at the Alberta Children’s Hospital for several lengthy stays. Despite all that this courageous child has endured he hasn’t lost his spirit and was described by one RN as “delightful”.
We at the Brentwood Village Dental Clinic couldn’t have been more thrilled for the opportunity to lighten the load a little for these devoted parents and maybe help make that Christmas just a little brighter for their family.
